What is Ascend Master’s Commission

Ascend Master’s Commission is an intense, nine month discipleship program. Master’s Commission was founded in 1984 in Phoenix, Arizona and has grown into a worldwide movement changing the lives of thousands. With a balance between discipleship and evangelism the program provides a functional, hands on environment where the individual can experience the power of God on a daily basis. For those who are serious about discovering God’s will for their life, there is simply no substitute for this life changing experience. With the call to “know God and to make Him known”, Master’s Commission is more than a program, it’s a lifestyle. Master’s Commission students are not tomorrow’s leaders; they are today’s world changers.

What is the cost of tuition and what does it cover?

They tuition cost for the first year program is $3,500 [Second year Leadership Training is $2,500]. This cost covers all housing, meals, program activities as well as all curriculum and school supplies. We want to meet all of the basic needs of the student during the duration of the program. Any additional costs such as spending money, entertainment, and other extra activities are to be provided by the student. Students are not permitted to work during the program due to their intense schedule. We do offer reasonable and flexible payment plans because it is our goal to work with every individual and their families concerning the cost of the program. Unfortunately, any donations towards a student’s tuition is not tax deductible.

When does AMC start? When is graduation? When are vacations? How can I apply?

We always begin our school year the last Friday of September and gradutation is usually on the first Sunday morning of June during our 11am service. This school year 2011/2012, graduation happens to fall on June 10th (the second Sunday morning in June) due to schedules and activities happening around our church.  Students get 7 days for Christmas break [December 23rd - December 30th]. If there is any kind of family crisis or some unforeseeable situation, we always accommodate the student and their family.

What kind of ministry and travel opportunities will I experience at Ascend?

We are passionate about using our MC students to reach souls. This is not a place to come and sit, you will be used beyond your wildest imagination. We will encourage you in your strengths and push you in your weaknesses. Our church, Thrive Church, is a place where you can use your gifts, talents, and abilities to minister to all age groups through various [tc] ministries. Within Ascend, we also have multiple ministries featured in detail in our Community Programs/Creative Departments. We are passionate about our programs and how they impact our community. We also travel with in the nation and we offer missions trips as well [missions trips are not included within the tuition cost and funds must be raised by the student]. All travel within the country is covered within the tuition cost including the annual MC conference. For international travel each student must provide their own passport.

What about curriculum and ministry credentials?

We are committed to biblical discipleship at Ascend and our curriculum reflects that. Every student is required to complete scripture memory, our bible overview program, as well as our unique “Irrversible Spirit” curriculum, which consists of the teachings and writings from the finest authors and church leaders of today and years past. We are very excited to offer Covenant Bible College and Seminary at Ascend. This is a Christian college that believes in our Master’s Commission program and has partnered with us to offer our students higher education possibilities including Associates, Bachelors, and even Doctorate programs. Because they understand the vision of Master’s Commission they keep the tuition affordable at about $180 a course. That is a full year of Bible College for less than $2,000. This is an incredible blessing for our MC students. For more information see www.chctoday.com. Being part of the Master’s Commission International Network allows our graduates to transfer their experience into some selected Assemblies of God colleges as well as International Pentecostal Holiness Church colleges. We strongly caution any student to investigate any school or institution to see what is transferable concerning their future pursuits.

What about housing and other program requirements?

We currently provide housing through MC homes next to our church. Our men and women stay in separate housing within the supervision of our second year and staff leadership. We also have a no dating policy [for the first year class] in order to avoid unnecessary distractions during the school year. There are no age requirements for prospective students, however they must have a high school diploma or equivalent. Students are not required to have a car, but if they do, the student must provide car insurance for the duration of the program. We highly recommend our students to carry health insurance but if a student cannot provide this, they must sign a waiver stating that our program is not responsible or liable for their health during their time with our program.
